Post Ati or nvidia and why?

I didn't know there was really a difference years ago, but the battle for the popular video card has risen to my attention. With SLI and Crossfire, one CANNOT ignore the fact this plays a part in buyer decisions and choosing which board to buy or which board and video card combo. Which do you prefer and why? I would stay ATI, but SLI seems to have the market and most games I know of are not geared toward Crossfire implementation.

I have always found tomshardware to be very useful in this area. Each month they have a new article about the top video cards for each price point.

Best Video Cards For The Money: Oct '08 : The Best Graphics Cards for the Money: October 2008 - Tom's Hardware

The top performer always changes, its a constant battle between ATI or nVidia.

its true that it is a constant battle, but i have always seen nvidia come out on top somehow, either with price or just performance. Plus, nvidia partners are just more reliable with their warranties, like BFG, XFX, Evga etc, who have lifetime warranties.

I'm all for ATI/AMD...more ATI cause AMD's cpu's are still underperforming Intel's. I used to be either/or depending on who had better performance, but from what I've been reading, ATI is strong and has all-around performance in whatever card they offer. If you check the specs on the cards, ATI is going GDDR3, GDDR4, and GDDR5 nowadays and with a sh#t load of stream processors...640 in some cards.
Also, Nvidia recently has been having defects in their cards...overheating...crashing... so be weary and find out for sure which cards are good from them.

I'm not going to try to convince you, but this is my opinion and thoughts on the two companies.
