I was able to download most of the patches I needed for the software, and hardware I had in my system. It ran great, but it ate a LOT of resources, and memory. So if you want to run Vista, be prepared to run a minimum of 2 gigs of memory. Mine at idle was using 53% of my memory, and to me that is a lot. I am now using XP Pro, and at idle it is only using 28% of my memory, and it flies. But I have 4 gigs of Ballistix Tracer memory in dual channel. Vista is awesome, I really liked it, but it takes a lot of patience to get it up and running good. I don't know anything about it now that there is a service pack for it. I hope this helps you. |

I run Vista Ultimate and it's fine as long as you have a decent system. If you're comp is an old clunker with a Pentium III and 512MB of ram then yeah, Vista will crawl...but on most systems build within the last 1.5 years or so you should be fine. It's a solid OS, but it's definitely not the leap over XP that XP was over Windows 98/ME.
